Wrightsville Beach Ocean Rescue, a United States Lifesaving Association (USLA) Advanced Agency, is an integral division of the Wrightsville Beach Fire Department. This agency is tasked with the critical responsibility of protecting the public along the four-mile ocean coastline of Wrightsville Beach. To ensure the highest level of emergency response, all Wrightsville Beach Ocean Rescue personnel are certified first responders, with a minimum qualification of Emergency Medical Responder, and management personnel are certified Emergency Medical Technicians. The division is under the direction of Director Sam Proffitt.
